In the Silent Night
Original Russian Text by Afanasy Afanas'yevich Fet
Translated to English by Unknown

Oh, in the silent night,
I see your vision nearing:
with your caressing voice,
your artful smile, smile endearing,
your hair that I was wont to stroke,
your hair in flowing strands of black -
how oft I bid you go,
how oft I call you back.
The phrases of the past,
anew I try to fashion.
I whisper and recall
the words that voiced our passion.
Wild and despairing,
I summon past delights.
With your beloved name,
I wake the silent night.
With your beloved name,
I wake the silent night.
